There aren’t enough stylish fall layers and blanket scarves to hide my belly anymore…! That’s right, I’m thrilled to share the exciting news with you all: I’m pregnant!

Our little one is due in April and the past few months have been an exhilarating and hilarious journey into pregnancy, maternity fashion and dressing for my growing baby bump.

Before I start churning out a bunch of maternity outfit posts (stay tuned, lots in the queue!), let’s first take a trip down pregnancy lane.

A long trip, in fact. Let’s just say, the road to pregnancy has been long and winding. Getting pregnant – and staying pregnant – isn’t as easy as we had hoped. We’ve had some ups and downs but finally (finally!) I am sitting here happy and healthy at 19 weeks preggo and couldn’t be more thankful, thrilled, scared, and excited.

Sidenote, I’m not even a mom yet and already feel like dishing out some motherly advice: if you’re trying to get pregnant, remember to hold on tight to patience and faith. Lean on your partner, laugh at the challenges, eat lots of veggies, be patient, and daydream about the glorious day you’ll be able to slip on your first pair of maternity jeans and relish in just how comfy they are!

Like many pregnant women, I stubbornly wore my non-maternity jeans for as along as I could (with a little help from a friend’s hand-me-down Bellaband), but then I wised up and realized I wasn’t comfortable anymore. Elastic waistbands to the rescue! I was thrilled to find these non-mom “mom jeans” at Target. Paired with a plaid tunic from Motherhood Maternity and Target booties and I’m feeling like one stylish mama-to-be.

Over the next five months, I hope to continue to use Style Me Thrifty as a way to share my thrifty outfits as usual — just with the addition of a baby bump! If you’ve been down the pregnant road before, please leave a comment below with any pregnancy advice or maternity recommendations — I could use the help!

-Pregnancy Reflections-

Weeks: I’m currently 19 weeks along; baby is the size of a mango. We took these photos at 18 weeks since I was having a good hair day and the leaves were having a colorful leaf day!

Currently feeling: Easily hungry… and then easily full.

Quick thoughts on maternity fashion: I’m thankful for an older sister and her attic of maternity clothes! Between her hand-me-downs, a couple items from Poshmark, and a mother-daughter trip to Destination Maternity, I’m trying to embrace this chance to play around with fashion even more!

Pregnancy + blogging: I hope to keep this blog going strong throughout my pregnancy. It’s a nice distraction from all the baby gear research I have yet to start… If you’re an expectant mama out there, let me know what kind of posts you’d like to see. And if you’re not pregnant, don’t worry, I have plenty of non-maternity ideas in the works!

Congratulations! That’s wonderful! We have a two-month old little boy, and I’m figuring it out as we go. It’s a fun adventure! For maternity wear, Seraphine was my absolute favorite. I bought a few of their dresses on sale and felt like a million bucks when I wore them. Since you’re local, I also recommend Bellies and Babies in Del Ray. I grabbed some great maternity pieces there as well as some adorable baby clothes (for the latter, especially, they introduced me to a lot of boutique brands I might not otherwise have discovered). And you’re probably–hopefully!–through the nausea portion of your pregnancy, but La Croix was my go-to for settling my stomach and staying hydrated throughout the whole 9-months. Seriously, we were picking up a 12-pack every couple of days. :P

    • Catherine, thanks so much for your comment! I actually have a few Seraphine dresses pinned for a special occasion, but hey, isn’t being pregnant special enough that I can splurge on a few adorable dresses?! I haven’t been to Bellies and Babies yet, but it comes highly recommended so I’m excited to check it out now that the bump is growing much faster! Congrats to you and your family. Or should I say, “cheers!” (with a can of La Croix raised!).
